Dr. John Bingham is originally from Maiden, NC and had an interesting prelude to his veterinary career: from 1973 – 1975, he served aboard a U.S. Coast Guard icebreaker based in Kodiak, Alaska, patrolling the Aleutian islands and Bering Sea. Dr. Bingham did his undergraduate studies at North Carolina State University, and then earned his DVM from North Carolina State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. He worked in a mixed animal practice in Lake Norman for 2 years before he and Dr. Mark Stehr purchased South Ridge Veterinary Hospital in 1988. Dr. Bingham is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association and is a member and past president of the Greater Cabarrus Veterinary Society.
With his Coast Guard background, it should come as no surprise that Dr. Bingham has a passion for all water activities, especially scuba diving, kayaking and sailing. He also enjoys spending as much time as possible with his son Tyler and his daughter Shannon, his son-in-law Bradley and their pride and joy, his grandson Wyatt! He is a loyal Carolina Panthers fan since the teams very beginning; Dr. Bingham and his wife, Caroline, attend Panthers games as often as they can. They have a busy, happy household of 3 dogs and several cats: Jeb, a Golden Retriever; Jethro, a Golden Retriever; Griffin, a Terrier mix; Atticus, a Maine Coon kitten (the newest addition) and just a “few” other cats that have been rescued over the years.
